How to save money on gasoline.
1. Avoid racing.
By speeding up slowly at a green light you save gas.2. Look farther ahead.
Do not speed up if you see a red light two blocks ahead. Go smooth, wait for the green and then accelerate slowly. It helps you to save gas and your brakes.3. Choose your lane.
Researches show that changing lanes does not reduce time you spend on the road. Whenever possible choose you lane and use cruise control. It helps your gas mileage and your blood pressure.4. Turn off the engine even if you stop for a few minutes.
Have you noticed how many drivers leave the engine running while they are chatting with a neighbor or running to the bank? It burns more gas than you think. It does not mean that you should turn off the engine on every traffic light but do it if you are not going to move for a few minutes.5. Watch your engine's working conditions.
If you take your car to the mechanic on time it helps you save gas for about 4%. Maintain your engine's working conditions and fix all the problems in time. Spark plugs not changed in time increase gas consumption by about 30%.6. Change your air filter.
When the air filter gets plugged up with dirt and the engine has to work harder and your vehicle burns more gas. By changing the air filter you save about 10% on gas. A good idea is to check the air filter with every oil change.7. Go through your mechanical inspection in time.
Take it seriously. If you ignore it your car might not run well. Follow the instructions in you car manual.8. Avoid extreme braking.
Check how heavy your car is and if it is possible remove some heavy items. It will help your car's mileage.9. Use a car pool.
